Matt Hoopes Private Collection

We’re thrilled to announce that guitarist, pedal builder, tone-enthusiast, and fellow Ohioan Matt Hoopes is exclusively offering his epic pedal collection at New Vintage Music.

1981 Inventions

Matt Hoopes is the owner of 1981 Inventions, the company responsible for the coveted DRV pedal. Many will know Hoopes as the guitarist and founding member of Relient K, and it was his years of writing, recording, and touring that led him to developing effects that are carefully nuanced.

In collaboration with Matt, New Vintage Music is stoked to bring you a variety of great pedals that were previously owned by the 1981 Inventions founder.

With over fifty pedals in this collection, there’s no shortage of impressive effects, whether it’s coveted vintage pieces like big box Memory Man’s or a more modern classics like the Benson Chimera Preamp.

In addition, this collection includes three 1981 DRV pedals in unique, single-production finishes.

Come IN TODAY and check out this amazing collection!! See below for a list of just some of the effects in stock and a word from Hoopes about each.

1. Nobsound Little Bear - This is a funny little Chinese preamp that uses a real tube. It’s fairly clean sounding on guitar and can also be used in your home stereo haha. Just an odd piece.

2. Mr Black Supermoon - I own multiple of these and it is a classic. Nothing goes underwater reverb quite like this pedal.

3. ART Reverb - A piece of 80s nostalgia

4. Tronix  Stereo Chorus - The switch is a little funky on these, but they sound cool and have such a unique space age 80s look.

5. Tronix Super Phase - same

6. Peavey DSC-4 Chorus - what a unique enclosure. One of two digital choruses from this series, it sounds more subtle and pretty than you’d guess.

7. Peavey – same

8. Earthquaker Ghost Echo - I own multiple of this one as well. Such a beautiful and subtle modulation on the reverb only, with just a little slap echo.

9. EHX - Memory Man Deluxe - Probably my fav Memory Man enclosure. The good chip. It’s a bit noisy (as is the era) but nothing sounds quite like it

10. Ibanez Phase Tone - No nonsense truly vintage Phaser that sounds great and looks cool AF

11. Johnson EAD-2 - maybe the oddest enclosure I’ve seen in a while, and a pretty cool delay!

12. Dynastar M-31 - True tube distortion and sounds great at high gain. Can get in that Jimmy Eat World / Queensryche kinda zone

13. Strymon Nightsky - The presets are oddly easy to use and great sounding

14. Korg SDD - the legendary rack mount piece in a pedal. These were oddly kinda limited and will likely be a collectors piece, as well as sound great

15. Benson Preamp - this is a duplicate. One of the best in the game

16. Hudson Broadcast AP - This is the Ariel Posen signature preamp. Does the console thing loud and low gain, all headroom. Sounds great!

17. Greer Lightspeed - the Legendary pedal of Nashville and beyond (duplicate)

18. Walrus SLO – so sleepy and ambient

19. Mad Mojo Ad Astra - what a great EQ section and smooth full-range medium gain kinda sounds. Can be very aggressive

20. Southampton Indie Dream - play your favorite Copeland record. Really nice overdrive and reverb in one. Sounds great!

21. Mattoverse Swell Delay - beautiful tuned delay with a hold switch for oscillation and repeats that will expand a pad underneath your playing. Very musical and fun to play

22. Vertex boost - legendary boost

23. Earthquaker Levitation Reverb - a medium control reverb, sounds great!

24. JHS Cheese Ball - one of the best circuits of all time. In limited Blackout

25. Adventure Lunge - super cool chorus modulation and octave

26. Spruce Rangemaster - fully hand wired, point to point with EQ!

27. Free The Tone - unbelievable Japanese build quality, super nuanced overdrive

28. Ross Compressor - short lived reissue, OG circuit and enclosure

29. Retroactive Dot Chaser - somewhere in between a chorus and slap echo, so good

30. Tonewave Preset - overdrive with a nice subtlety and EQ section

31. Catalinbread Epoch Boost - Classic echoplex boost

32. Kingtone Blues Power - wow such an amazing build, incredible sound, super music overdrive

33. Demedash 112+ - a highly controllable and great sounding overdrive with tons of EQ options

34. Mr Black reverb - tiny enclosure and a great reverb sound!

35. Pelican Pelitaur - a blend-able circuit fuzz. Huge and great. Not a Klon haha

36. Strymon Blue Sky - the classic. The first knob is busted (fully functional), but you have to start it at zero and go to your desired level rather than just turn it from anywhere. Priced as such

37. JPTR Super Weirdo - Classic noisemaker and fun device!

38. Retroactive Reverb - very cool and subtle and great sounding reverb!

39. Elektron Analog - what a wild pedal. Not digital! A whole bunch of analog circuits and controls. A perfect studio piece

40. Spaceman Saturn VI - Boost/overdrive with tone control (newer version)

41. Spaceman Apollo VII - stellar medium overdrive

42.  Boss Dimension C –classic recreation of the classic 80’s legendary SDD-320

43. Recovery Endless Summer - a real spring tank reverb with a nice high end presence type boost

44. Walrus Audio Deep Sis - classic comp

45. Chase Tone Secret Preamp - really fun take on the Echoolex style

46. Tomkat Day Dreamer - really nice lil reverb and delay

47. Nightfall Bloom and Fade - wow what a unique pedal. Auto swells your volume when you click the switch. That’s all. No options but it does it well!

48. Pepers Pedals RAD - Actually to me this is much different than a RAT sound, does a cool low gain punchy boost style as well

49. Subdecay Octasynth - really easy to use and great sounds / tracking

50. Boss Dimension

51. Redson Overdrive 11 - super cool vintage overdrive. Would put this somewhere in the OD-1 camp, but I honestly don’t know what the circuit is based on

52. Danelectro Spring King - real spring reverb, you can kick it on purpose! The sound of the reverb is a little more like a slap echo

53. Snouse Blackbox - the best boutique take on a Bluesbreaker ever. All the bells and whistles

54. Old Blood Minim - momentary reverse reverb / delay is more fun that you would have guessed

 PLUS SO MUCH MORE!!
